First Rider Call Green Rider Kristen Britain 9780756401931 Books

This is the second book in Kristin Britain’s Green Rider series. It begins about 2-3 years after the events of Green Rider took place. Karigan has returned to Sacor City as a Green Rider.

Karigan was part of a delegation to Eletia that was attacked by groundmites before a wraith escaped and Eletians came to their aid. Since the breach of the D’Yer Wall and especially since the wraith escaped, magic has gone awry.

Karigan is seeing visions of the First Rider, Lil Ambriodhe, and cannot tell what they mean. Her ability has failed her. Captain Mapstone is having inconsistencies in her ability as well. Tegan also has had some wrong readings. Something is up with Rider magic.

And it isn’t only Rider magic that has gone awry. Things are happening throughout Sacoridia that haven’t happened before. An avian crosses the breach in the D’Yer Wall to attack those stationed there. A sentience is awakening in Blackveil Forest and the Wall is crumbling.

Into all of this Karigan and her friends are thrown. The Riders are the most likely ones to understand the magical instances but even they don’t known enough. For too long magic has been spoken of only as taboo and now too much has been forgotten.

Karigan has grown up in this book. She is more confident in who she is and what her role as a Green Rider entails. She is willing to do whatever is necessary for her king and her country. She is even willing to take on responsibilities that she never wanted.

Alton is at the D’Yer Wall, trying to find a way to fix it. He isn’t even sure if it is possible but he knows he has to try. His ability may be able to help him but he has to figure out how it all works before the entire Wall comes crumbling down.

King Zachary has problems of his own. Everyone is looking to him to solve the magical issues. Everyone is looking for him to find a solution to the groundmite attacks. Everyone is looking for him to take care of the northern refugees. Everyone is looking to Zacahry for something.

I love this book so much. It is a wonderful sequel to Green Rider and another glimpse into the realm of Sacoridia. This world is so detailed and the characters all have depth. There is so much that I love about this book that I could never get it all into one review. It is great!

First Rider Call Green Rider Kristen Britain 9780756401931 Books Reviews

It’s been a while since I’ve read a story just for the pure enjoyment of it. The characters have depth and are likable. The plot is complex with plenty of twists and turns. There’s a sense of mystery mixed in with the backdrop of fantasy. Looking forward to more Green Rider adventures.
Yet again, I will state how much I love this series! Each book gets more and more adventurous. You never know what to expect, or what will happen next. And even though this is my 2nd time reading this book and series, I forgot a lot of the smaller things, and it's keeping me on my toes!

I like that Lil, the First Rider, has such a prevalent part in this book. She's got a lot of spunk, and it's neat getting glimpses into Rider history.

There's a lot of wild magic in this book that causes problems throughout Sacoridia, though nothing major. All that does, though, is make you feel like there's a ticking time bomb under all of it just ready to explode. It just adds to the suspense! -)

Overall, *still* love these books!!!
I have to say, this book truly captivated me. On certain parts, I could hardly stop reading. Karigan is a great protagonist. She has many fears and doubts, yet she always manages to pull things off.

The book felt as if it was going at a good pace for the first two thirds of the story. However, the last third of the story felt a little rushed. Things were going by so quickly whereas they had taken their time earlier. The ending sections of the story were mostly the ones that touched me the most. Perhaps I just love the story so much that I wanted more out of it, but I thought the last parts of the book should have been longer. It's mI have to say, this book truly captivates me. There isn’t a whole lot of romance in the series, and I’m fine with that. I like the little bits of romance that are there, and am glad that there isn’t too much. I find the balance between everything to be nearly perfect.

I cannot wait to read the third and fourth book. First Rider's Call was a great follow up to Green Rider. I just got the next books today, and I’m looking forward to devouring them.
No mere words of mine can describe the magic and wonder of this book. This entire series has just captivated me and I simply MUST keep reading! This author had written of magic, love, politics and destiny in such a spellbinding way that you simply can't put this book down! The second book of the series details not only more aspects of Karrigan's life, but also the details of the Green Riders and the First Rider, Lil. The history of this world comes alive as the ghosts of its past visit the denizens of its future. If you don't read anything else, you simply must read this series. No fan of fantasy fiction should be without these books on their shelves!!
